Brock Hillman is an acoustically-driven singer/songwriter known for the way his music moves, both rhythmic ally and emotionally. He picked up a guitar at age 12, and hasn't put it down since. Starting in a heavy metal band, with big hair and pants to match, Brock explored music from Metallica to Journey. He has never limited his musical influences and is always on the lookout for innovative artists that have something new to bring to the table. Now Patty Griffin and Jimmy Eat World might be better examples of who he listens to in the car, but Brock's genuine love of music renders him always ready for an adventure - ready and waiting to try something unique. Playing in various bands throughout high school and college, Brock began to experience the core of where music can take you; to the place inside of you that is the most real. His music springs from the most genuine parts of him, and when you listen to it, it takes you to those places inside yourself. Anyone who knows Brock knows that he won't stay too serious for too long. His spontaneity and humor is evident in his live show. He dances around on stage, and his spirit is infectious. After one show in Cincinnati, a woman approached him and told him that "his energy and his aura" were contagious. In true Brock-style, he thanked her, grinned and said to a friend, "what the heck does that mean?" From playing in college around the Cincinnati area, to the streets of Nashville with an open guitar case, to now recording and playing here in Los Angeles. Brock's music keeps leading him to new places, new people, and new experiences. As a songwriter, he couldn't ask for anything more.
Gary Takesian studied composition, pipe organ, and electronic music at the University of Southern California. He has written music for stage, video, small ensamble, organ, piano, and synthesizer. A native Californian, Takesian has roots in the Golden State That go back three generations. After Several decades of making music, Takesian thought it was time to share some of his work with a larger audience. Aqua Afternoon is the result of 10+ years of tinkering with a new musical form he calls the "Wordless Mantra". This is an instrumental form that uses repeating melodic phrases fused together to create unique musical textures. The music embodies elements from several generes including Classical, Jazz and New Age.
